3rd International Lymphedema Framework Conference

The 3rd International Lymphedema Framework conference is taking place in June 2011 in Toronto, Canada. Abstracts for presentations can be submitted in January and I really encourage all Vodder Therapists to attend and make a presentation. The Dr. Vodder School has a newsletter that is available for viewing by anyone interested in our up-to-date activities. Vodder News will carry current articles from therapists, lymphologists, research and information on upcoming events and courses. Primarily this will be focused on the Dr. Vodder method of Manual Lymph Drainage and the world of lymphedema management and lymphology.

Lymphedema Awareness

Lymphedema awareness will be raised a notch in Toronto on November 20th at the Lymphovenous Association of Ontario conference. Hear speakers from across Canada on topics related to lymphedema. Robert Harris, director of the Dr. Vodder School will give a presentation in the morning titled "from Lymphatics to Lymphedema". Dr. Anna Towers, medical director of the Dr. Vodder School will give a talk on "Lymphedema Management Components". Look for us at the Dr. Vodder School - International booth in the exhibit area where you can find out about the most extensive training available in North America, find certified therapists and read textbooks about lymphedema and the lymphatic system. Lymphedema Framework Project updates.

Lymphedema Framework Project updates. The next International Lymphedema Framework conference will be held in Toronto, Canada, June 16 to 18, 2011. It will be held at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Toronto. More information will be available soon at www.lympho.org. The American Lymphedema Framework project has released its annual report and it can be found at www.alfp.org.

The lymphedema Framework project is an international initiative which began in the UK several years ago. It is a growing movement around the world to raise awareness, attain best practices for lymphedema care and unite a wide variety of interested parties from patients to health care practitioners, researchers, physicians and industry partners.

Lymphedema compression taken to a new level with Angela Vollmer, orthopedic technician from Freiburg, Germany.

The Dr. Vodder School held a 2 day "Expert Garment Fitter" course in Victoria, BC in May. In conjunction wit BSN medical, this course teaches the art of garment fitting to fitters, therapists and clinicians already familiar with garment fitting. The response from participants was extremely positive and two half days of the course were spent with lymphedema patients learning all the tricks and ways to maximize fitting the perfect garment. Participants from across Canada and Washington State included fitters, occupational therapists, nurses and lymphedema therapists. It is hoped to repeat this class next year.
